What Reddit Talks About
A hundred words from a Reddit comment corpus, extruded and sized by frequency.
The hundred most frequent words in a corpus of Reddit comments, laid out as a 3D word cloud. Word size is relative frequency; nothing else is encoded.
What surfaces is not a topic list. "People", "think", "one", "really", "good" — the top of the distribution is hedging and reference, the connective tissue of argument rather than its subject. That is what a frequency count of conversational text looks like once stop words are removed but qualifiers are not.
The type is extruded rather than flat, and the camera sits slightly off vertical so the depth registers. A word cloud is a weak analytical chart and a strong texture; this one is built to be the second thing.
It is the lightest example in the gallery — one scene, one chart, no narration — and a fair look at what the word cloud renderer does at a hundred entries.
